Frequently Asked Questions
Helpful answers about knee-high and thigh-high compression stockings, sizing, compression levels, fit and care.
What is the difference between knee-high and thigh-high compression stockings?+
Knee-high stockings end below the knee and are generally easier to put on and wear. Thigh-high stockings extend higher on the leg and provide compression over a larger area. The best style depends on where support is needed and, when used for a medical reason, the recommendation of your healthcare professional.
What is the difference between 15–20 mmHg and 20–30 mmHg?+
15–20 mmHg provides lighter, moderate compression. 20–30 mmHg provides firmer compression and can deliver roughly 25% to 50% more pressure, depending on the comparison point within each range. If compression is being used for a medical condition or following a procedure, follow your clinician's recommended level.
How do I choose the correct size?+
Use the sizing guide for the exact Ozer product and compression level you are ordering. Do not assume the same size carries over between different products. Measure according to the insert card and compare your measurements to that product's chart.
Are knee-high compression socks easier to put on than thigh-high stockings?+
Generally, yes. Knee highs cover less of the leg and are usually easier to put on and remove. Firmer compression levels such as 20–30 mmHg can also require more effort than lighter compression.
What is the difference between open-toe and closed-toe stockings?+
Closed-toe stockings cover the entire foot and toes. Open-toe stockings leave the toes exposed. Some customers prefer open-toe styles for ventilation, footwear flexibility or personal comfort, while others prefer the full-foot feel of a closed-toe design.
When should I put compression stockings on?+
Compression stockings are commonly put on earlier in the day, before significant swelling develops. If you are following a clinician-directed compression routine, follow those specific instructions.
Can I wear compression stockings all day?+
Many compression garments are designed for daytime wear, but appropriate wear time depends on the individual and the reason for using compression. If the product is being used therapeutically, follow your healthcare professional's instructions.
How should I wash Ozer compression stockings?+
Follow the care instructions supplied with the specific product. Gentle washing and avoiding excessive heat help protect the elastic fibers and maintain the garment's fit and compression performance.
How often should compression stockings be replaced?+
Compression garments gradually lose elasticity with repeated wear and washing. Replacement timing depends on frequency of use and garment condition. Replace them when the fit, elasticity or compression noticeably deteriorates.
What larger sizes does Ozer offer?+
Ozer's 20–30 mmHg Knee High Closed Toe range extends through 6XL, while the 20–30 mmHg Thigh High Open Toe range extends through 5XL.
